Our Story
The story of Horizon is embodied by our founder, Kurt Johnson, and renews itself daily in the separate businesses he and the Horizon team have built over the years. Started in Kurt’s garage in 1996, Horizon has grown into a leading supplier of IT asset disposition and data storage services for the data center. It also serves as an incubator for a string of spin-off ventures, based around Lean Startup principles.

A company is only as strong as its team. Horizon’s senior leadership is thankful for the dedication of our staff who grow our business daily by thinking around corners and continually exceeding our clients’ expectations.
Kurt is our CEO and founder. A serial entrepreneur, Kurt brings incredible focus and energy to each of the Horizon projects he has undertaken with his team.
Stephen is our Chief Operating Officer. Passionate about developing rigorous, scalable processes that support Horizon's solutions, Stephen's expertise around data sanitization and ITAD workflows, combined with his understanding of the data storage market, rank second to none.
Jared is our VP of trading. With deep knowledge of the sector and an extensive track record in the field, Jared is responsible for all global trading activity and oversees the global purchasing team spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.
Mark is our director of business development. Combining expert insight into the storage OEMs with a passion for the development of open source hardware, Mark is committed to meeting the data center’s storage needs and helping clients secure maximum return from their assets.
Loma is our VP of finance. With extensive experience in corporate finance, Loma oversees all of Horizon’s financial aspects, from tracking and analysis through planning and compliance.
Dan is our director of global operations. Dedicated to delivering excellence across our system workflows, Dan manages all aspects of logistics from testing, wiping, and flashing through industry accreditations such as ISO and R2.
