Horizon Technology announced the purchase of Edmond's K-Tronics International on Tuesday, but the company's top executive said no changes were planned. K-Tronics focuses on hard-to-find products and is an authorized distributor of Seagate recertified hard drives. Based in California, Horizon is an independent distributor that specializes in computer storage and display products. The purchase occurred at the beginning of the year and had been in the works for about four months. "This is a big milestone for Horizon," said Kurt Johnson, Horizon's chief executive officer. "We're excited about the resources and strengths we can now offer customers through our relationship with Seagate. Working directly with Seagate will allow us to compete better in our target markets and continue offering industry-leading repair demand fulfillment services." Just five years ago, Seagate was one of 12 disc drive manufacturers. Today, there are only seven, but the business continues to boom. Despite the new ownership, little will change for the Edmond office. The two employees - shipping manager Leanna Steuber and branch manager Lisa Perry - will stay in the office. "They're Horizon employees," Johnson said. "We have no plans to shut that facility down or lay anyone off. We're actually looking for an increase in business out of that location." Horizon employs a total of 30 staffers and in 2004 brought in $35.4 million in revenue. Additional offices are in Boston, Miami and Seoul, South Korea. Brandice J.
