Best-in-class data sanitization
Data sanitization is too often defined only in terms of the act of wiping drives. At Horizon, we define data sanitization in terms of workflow in its entirety, from the time drives are decommissioned from servers through sanitization and processing for reuse or disposal.
We have been working in the storage space for more than 20 years developing solutions and workflows supporting the most recognized names in the industry. Horizon has the experience and technological know-how to deliver uncompromising results.
Our data sanitization is certified by the Asset Disposal & Information Security Alliance (ADISA). Each drive is tested, wiped, and post-wipe checked for data to exacting standards, whether onsite or in our dedicated wiping facilities. Our workflows are integrated into our transaction management software, with built-in system levels checks ensuring full compliance.
- Data sanitization certified by ADISA (Asset Disposal & Information Security Alliance).
- Any device that cannot be successfully sanitized is physically shredded to ensure no data can be recovered.
- Serialized certificates of data wipe and drive destruction are generated for all processed drives.
- Outbound shipments are systematically audited a second time by individual drives for wipe results at the outbound audit (OBA).
Our workflow is built from the same Shop Floor Control System we designed over 20 years to meet the exacting standards that support the most recognizable names in the hardware business.
Each drive that enters our system is tracked by individual serial number as it passes through key workflow junctures. If a work order calls for a drive to be flashed with OEM-specific firmware, our system validates the task has been completed before the drive can pass to the next workflow juncture.

We have used a variety of Transportation Management Systems over the years but never felt they fully met our needs—so we developed our own called FreightPOP, a simple-to-use interface that allows you to quickly find the lowest rate with carriers that meets your needs. With more than 20 years’ experience in the sector, we have had a chance to work with a range of carriers and are confident we know how to identify the best-in-breed.
All our services include serialized asset identifications down to the pallet, with serialized pallet IDs ensuring full traceability. We employ a variety of security measures as standard operating procedure, with the option of adding enhanced security options.

Horizon possesses the required certifications to ensure that you are compliant in the disposal of your retired assets. Our wipe software and workflow is third party certified by ADISA for hard disk and solid state drives. All data sanitization is completed in strict accordance with NIST SP 800-88 standards and, when applicable, DoD 5220.22-M. We work with you to ensure exactly the right approach to sanitization for each workload.
We are also a R2-certified responsible recycler with R2 compliant workflows, protocols, and system-level evaluations ensuring that items are properly processed for sale. Non-saleable items are processed within local, state and federal requirements.
